    • Onboarded Tokyo-based design team to align with North American-based GM practices, validation, and engineering specifications

    • Led the development of future-focused CMF strategy for high-use share environments, including high-durability soft and hard trim, and modular replaceable components to extend product lifecycle

    • Oversaw creation of full-scale mock-ups for color and material trials, evaluations, and wear testing

    • Collaborated with industrial design, engineering, product, and manufacturing ensuring feasibility for production

    • Adobe Creative Suite, VRED, CAD, Cisco Webex

    • Qualitative & quantitative research, hand sketching, 3D printing, rapid prototyping, sample development, hard & soft trim fabrication

    • Scalable and modular CMF system enhancing mass manufacturing efficiency and optimized fleet vehicle deployment

    • Color and material palette prioritizing sustainability, high-durability and service and maintenance ready for manufacturing

    • Material specification package documenting swatches, vendor sourcing, cost analysis, durability and performance ratings

    • Appearance models and full-size mock ups for executive reviews, investor presentations, and media events

    • Influenced public perception of autonomous vehicle safety and innovation by shaping a tactile, trustworthy rider experience through purposeful CMF design

    • Introduced non-automotive future-forward materials to establish a new design language distinct from traditional consumer vehivles, including first-to-market material innovations of soft textiles and hard floor trim

    • Materials strategy emphasizing modularity and lightweight solutions enabled vehicle weight reduction that extended battery life and increased driving range

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Cruise Origin redefines urban mobility as a purpose-built all-electric autonomous vehicle, designed to help move more people around the world. Developed through a partnership and collaboration between General Motors and Honda Japan, it brings forward innovation through cutting edge software and hardware.

The objective was to eliminate traditional driver constraints while focusing on human-centered ride experiences.
